Presentation
Addictions France, a public-interest association, acts on all addictive behaviors (alcohol, tobacco, cannabis, psychotropic medications, illicit drugs, excessive gambling and other non-substance addictions) by offering comprehensive medical, psychological and social support: prevention, harm reduction and care.
With 90 establishments and 85,000 people supported each year, it is a key player in health promotion and in shaping public policy.
Context and challenges
Addictive behavior among young people is a major public health issue, amplified by a lack of reference points and psychosocial vulnerability. In response, Addictions France is rolling out a program in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes called “Preventing addictive behavior by reinforcing psychosocial skills”, aimed at young people aged 12 to 25 in schools, child protection and social integration structures.
The aim is to encourage young people to identify and implement alternative strategies to risky behavior, by working on: expressing their emotions and needs; cooperation and making autonomous decisions; identifying sources of stress; asking for help; building their identity without systematically resorting to compensatory behaviours.
The project offers a “turnkey” program of 6 progressive sessions, accompanied by a facilitation guide, activity sheets and educational resources.
Partnership with the APRIL Foundation
The APRIL Foundation supports the design, implementation and impact evaluation of the program, including the creation of educational tools and the implementation of a rigorous evaluation protocol.
